J. Andrew Murrell is an attorney and owner of a small law firm. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from LSU and a Juris Doctorate from the Southern University Law Center. While working full-time, he attended law school part-time at night to better provide for his family.

Before becoming an attorney, Andrew spent 15 years in radio, working for a nationally syndicated shows. He was recognized as one of the Top 30 Under 30 in Radio and was a three-time nominee for Best Radio Show in America by Radio and Records.
Dedicated to public service, Andrew has been the spokesperson for the City of St. George, Louisiana, which became the largest incorporation effort in state history when it was established in 2019. Currently he serves as the City Councilman for District 5 in St. George.
He is also deeply involved in community service, working with programs that support children with dyslexia and volunteering for organizations such as the Bella Bowman Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network, OLOL Children’s Hospital, and St. Jude. Additionally, he organized the City of St. George Food Drive.
Andrew previously served as an Assistant Attorney General, where he filed thousands of lawsuits across Louisiana to recover government debts. In private practice, he represents small businesses, corporations, HOAs, condominium associations, property owners, and individuals in a variety of legal matters.
During the formation and campaign for St. George, Andrew played a key role as an organizer, attorney, and spokesperson. Following the Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of St. George, he was appointed Chairman of the St. George Transition District.
