Occupational Licensing & Renewals
The City of St. George requires businesses operating within its jurisdiction to obtain occupational licenses and pay the corresponding occupational license taxes. All new businesses, including home-based enterprises, must secure their occupational licenses before commencing operations.
Once your application has been received and processed, you will receive your Occupational License Certificate by mail, which must be displayed at your place of business. Kindly allow 10 business days for processing.

What is an Occupational License Tax?
The Occupational License Tax is assessed on the gross receipts of individuals or entities conducting business from a physical location within the corporate city limits of the City of St. George. If your business is situated within these municipal boundaries, you should remit the Occupational License Tax directly to the City of St. George.

What is required to obtain a New Occupational License?
Complete an Occupational License Application and include all requisite documentation as specified in the application. The minimum fee for obtaining a license is $50 for businesses that commence operations prior to June 30 of the current year, and $25 for after June 30.

How often is the Occupational License Tax paid and when does it expire?
The Occupational License Tax is subject to annual renewal. All Occupational License Taxes will expire on December 31 and must be renewed by March 1 of the subsequent year. In the event the license fees are not paid by March 1, applicable interest and fees will be incurred.

Why can’t I pay my license tax online?
We are presently engaged in the internal development of an online payment portal aimed at enhancing services for the business owners of St. George. Although we are unable to accept payments through this portal at this moment, we do provide a credit card authorization form that may be completed and submitted to finance@stgeorgela.gov in conjunction with the application for processing.
