In alignment with the City of St. George’s commitment to healthy and responsible growth, the Engineering
Department plans and delivers quality public infrastructure, upholds the City’s standards for development and
construction, and helps protect the community through proactive and roadway assessments, major street
planning, stormwater and floodplain management.


The City of St. George Engineering Department provides the following services:

Capital Improvement Planning & Projects

Manages planning, design, and construction of publicly funded infrastructure projects including roadways, drainage systems, bridges, and other public facilities. Major street and drainage planning activities, as well as ongoing Capital Projects will be updated on this page.

Floodplain

Identifies flood zones, maintaining accurate flood maps, and assisting property
owners with flood insurance requirements. Also helps protect people and property by promoting responsible building practices that reduce flood risks and strengthen community resilience.

Infrastructure and Development

Responsible for design review, permitting, and construction inspection of
private development projects. Also administers the policies and
procedures established for proposed developments throughout the City.
Oversee right-of-way (ROW) management activities, including access connections, culvert installations, utility permits and inspections, and land clearing.

Transportation & Traffic

Includes evaluating traffic patterns, roadway condition,
traffic safety, signage, traffic signals, neighborhood and school zones,
road closures, mobility services and other traffic-related requests.
Policies and procedures for access requests, traffic calming and traffic analysis.

Water Quality

Monitors water quality through regular inspections and maintenance of the City’s stormwater infrastructure.
