St. George Emergency Services
The City of St. George adopted a FEMA-approved Hazard Mitigation Plan in 2025 to strengthen preparedness and reduce risk from natural disasters. To support this effort, Mayor Dustin Yates established the City’s Office of Emergency Preparedness, ensuring a more coordinated local response during emergencies and severe weather events.
While St. George maintains its own emergency planning structure, the City works in close coordination with East Baton Rouge Parish through mutual aid agreements. In large-scale emergencies, support is provided through partnerships with parish agencies and neighboring municipalities, including Baker, Zachary, and Central.
During hurricanes and severe weather, first responders serve as the City’s front line. Agencies including St. George Police Department, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, and regional fire departments operate under established emergency response plans developed through experience and ongoing training. Residents should be aware that emergency services remain active during storms; however, response may be adjusted based on safety conditions such as high winds, flooding, or lightning.
For emergencies, residents should call 911.
For non-emergency assistance, contact 225-228-3200 or the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office at 225-389-3000.
Public Works support can also be reached at 225-228-3200 and will remain available 24 hours during major weather events.
Updates and emergency information will be shared through the City’s official Facebook page and website at stgeorgela.gov Residents are also encouraged to visit these websites (https://www.stgeorgefire.com/
