ST. GEORGE, La. — From a major investment in one of the busiest commercial corridors to continued progress on businesses and long-term planning – there has been plenty happening across St. George over the past few weeks. Here’s a look at some of the latest news from around the city:
Major Investment Coming to Siegen Lane
St. George secured more than $19 million in federal funding for SAFE Siegen, a major infrastructure project designed to improve safety, access, and traffic flow along approximately 1.35 miles of Siegen Lane between I-10 and Airline Highway. Planned improvements include upgraded traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, lighting, bus stops, and other enhancements along one of our region’s busiest commercial corridors.

Residents Help Shape St. George’s Future
Residents participated in the final stakeholder dialogue for the St. George Comprehensive Plan 2050, offering input on how our community should grow over the next 25 years. The City expects to finalize the comprehensive plan and present its findings to the community as we continue laying the groundwork for responsible, long- term growth.
A New Bank Invests in St. George
The Bank of Zachary purchased a former Regions Bank property on Highland Road for $3.4 million and plans to open its first St. George branch there this fall. The investment brings another financial institution into the city and expands banking options for residents and businesses.
More New Businesses Coming to Town
Cheba Hut is expanding into St. George with a new 2,600-square-foot location in Long Farm Village. Construction is already underway, with the restaurant currently expected to open in September.
New Street Signs Around St. George
Residents may have noticed new St. George-branded street signs appearing at intersections across the city. The project includes 194 new mast-arm signs and is part of the City’s continuing work to improve visibility and establish a consistent identity throughout St. George.
St. George Celebrates America’s 250th Birthday
Families gathered at Highland Road Park for St. George’s Fourth of July celebration honoring America’s 250th anniversary. The community event featured live music, family activities, historical exhibits, and a reenactment of the Battle of Baton Rouge.

St. George Food Truck Festival Coming This Fall
Another new community tradition is on the way: the inaugural St. George Food Truck Festival is scheduled for November 21 at the State Fairgrounds. The event will bring food trucks and families together for a full day of food and entertainment right here in St. George.

Greater Baton Rouge State Fair Returns to St. George
The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair will return to the Airline Highway Park and Fairgrounds in St. George from October 22 through November 1. The annual event will once again bring rides, food, entertainment, and family activities to our community this fall.
