Building Permits & Inspections

GOVmotus is our new software program designed to make obtaining a permit in the City of St. George easy and less time-consuming.

Benefits of our new software system:

  1. Ability to apply and pay for permits online.
  2. Track your permit application from submission to approval (for applications submitted on or after October 16). 
  3. Upload building plans and other documentation directly into the permit application.
  4. Provide immediate inspection results to contractors/residents via email and/or SMS text message.
  5. Provide information regarding permit status, fee payment, and plan review notes that can be printed at any given time.
  6. Inspection scheduling, status, and the report will be ready for print or review in real time.
  7. The Permit Fee Calculator can provide a quick estimate of a permit plan review and flood zone fees before you apply for permits.

 

Notice: 

Sewer tie-ins, drainage tie-ins, and curb cut permits are required to be obtained from East Baton Rouge Parish Subdivision Engineering. These permits are required prior to the issuance of building permits for new construction.

*All commercial buildings must have a Change of Occupancy inspection before the energy can be turned on or change names. Also, all new businesses must obtain an Occupational License from our Finance Department before opening. If the Change of Occupancy Type change (example:  Business to Assembly) plans must be submitted to our office with approval from the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's office.

Please be aware that effective January 1, 2023, the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council has mandated that the 2021 editions of the following codes will be enforced:
